U.S.-based EV truck manufacturer Orange EV has officially expanded into the Canadian market, fulfilling the requests of its customers, according to a press release.

"Orange EV's mission is to be a leader in the effort to positively impact climate change on a global scale, manufacturing heavy-duty EVs that are a superior financial and operational choice," Orange EV co-founder and CTO Kurt Neutgens said. "Canadian fleets have been telling us they want to experience the Orange EV difference, and with $100,000-per-truck discounts through Canada's incentives for the Medium-and Heavy-Duty Zero Emission Vehicles (iMHZEV) program now available, demand has rapidly intensified."

The company's Toronto-based division, OEV Canada Inc., now serves as an operational spot, producing vehicles for purchase, as well as in-country service and parts support.

To lead its Canadian operations, Orange EV welcomed Roberto Bragagnolo to assume the role of country general manager. Before accepting his role with the company, he served as GM of Finning, and also contributed to Export Development Canada and Siemens.

"Orange EV has long anticipated this expansion in Canada, and with the company's proven presence in cold-weather markets such as Minnesota, western New York and already in Ontario, it's a natural move that will benefit North American customers and the environment alike," Bragagnolo said.

The launch forms part of Orange EV’s strategy to expand globally, and its plans to migrate to a larger U.S. production facility during Q2 2023 to better fulfill the company's rapidly growing demands, and produce up to 1,800 terminal trucks per year in single-shift operations.

The company’s matched-pair solution of yard trucks and chargers is proving to be a more reliable and cost-effective alternative to traditional diesel units. Commercially available for over seven years, the trucks are used to transport trailers and containers at various facilities where goods movement is critical, such as distribution centers, manufacturing plants and ports. In heavy-use operations, the payback for switching to Orange EV's solution is often achieved in less than three years, even without government incentives.

“Demand continues to increase as the global trucking industry has come to understand that Orange EV's trucks are better for operations as well as the environment,” a recent press release reads. “Replacing diesel yard trucks with Orange EV electric vehicles eliminates harmful diesel emissions while reaping a competitive advantage through operational savings and increased uptime.”
