Hurricane Electric recently deployed a new Point of Presence (PoP) in GlobeNet Fortaleza, a press release reported.

“Fortaleza’s thriving economy and proximity to trans-Atlantic cables make this PoP an excellent access point enabling Brazilian business to connect globally,” said Mike Leber, president of Hurricane Electric. “Our fourth PoP in Brazil and fifth in South America continues our commitment to ensuring that users everywhere have access to high-speed connectivity.”

Located at 333 Rua Raimundo Esteves, Fortaleza CE 60182-330, the new PoP neighbors the Fortaleza International Airport. It is the fourth launch of its kind in Brazil.

The launch will provide a wide range of connectivity options and access to Hurricane Electric’s IPv4 and IPv6 network, powered through its catalog of ports, which include IPv4 and IPv6 network through 100GE (100 Gigabit Ethernet), 10GE (10 Gigabit Ethernet) and GigE (1 Gigabit Ethernet).

The facility will also serve as a hub to exchange IP traffic with Hurricane Electric’s network, consisting of 30,000 BGP sessions with over 10,000 different networks offerings via 280 major exchange points, and numerous ports.

GlobeNet Fortaleza houses numerous ISPs. The most recent facilities, launched in Q3 2022, have helped multiply the number of protected subsea fiber optic cable routes.

Specializing in the creative industry, retail, distribution and manufacturing businesses, Fortaleza’s contribution to the national GDP makes up approximately 1% of Brazil’s total economy. The state capital, commonly known as Brown Sugar Valley, counts with the support of nearly 200 startups.
