Air Products will soon begin constructing a second hydrogen liquefaction plant in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, a press release reported.
“Air Products is committed to contribute to the role of hydrogen in the energy transition,” a recent press release states. “This project is an important milestone and a great addition to Air Products' hydrogen capabilities in Europe.”
The addition follows the opening of a similar plant in Botlek, the Netherlands.
Upon launching operations in 2025, the plant will help double the total sum of liquid hydrogen capacity currently measured in Europe.
The liquid hydrogen produced at the facility will be utilized to fulfill recently increased demand from the mobility market and other industries.
The project will help Europe reach its heavy-duty vehicle decarbonization goal of climate neutrality by 2050.
