Degreed recently appointed Venkat Subramaniam as regional vice president of APAC amid its pursuit of growth in the region, according to a press release.

“Since launching the first LXP 10 years ago, Degreed has continued to pioneer and innovate in the learning space," Subramaniam said. "I am particularly delighted to be joining the team at this critical time in its global expansion. Degreed plays a vital role in helping lead global organizations to drive change, most notably in supporting Unilever employees to adapt to a digitally transformed factory, in Swiggy to shift its business model and Ericsson in upskilling its workforce ready for 5G. There are huge opportunities to leverage in APAC.”

Dan Tesnjak, vice president of EMEA and APAC at Degreed, said Subramaniam brings deep market expertise and industry connections to Degreed.

“Venkat has extensive experience in the APAC region with technology companies spanning more than two decades,” Tesnjak said in the release. “We are excited to see his cloud and strong HCM (Human Capital Management) domain experience impact Degreed’s APAC strategy and growth.”

Under his new role, Subramaniam will be tasked with identifying and implementing growth acceleration strategies in India, Singapore and Australia/New Zealand, where accelerated demands have recently been noted. The company’s slate of clients in the region includes Tata Communications, Swiggy, Ericsson, CavinKare and Asian Paints.

Prior to accepting his role at Degreed, who promotes an average end user Net Promoter score of over 40, Subramaniam served as general manager, head of sales Oracle NetSuite India, and also held positions at ADP and Adrenalin. The executive obtained a general manager certification after completing a program at MIT Sloan School of Management, and completed a coaching diploma in Ericksson, Canada, according to a press release.

The appointment follows recent findings of the negative impacts the pandemic has had on employee productivity. According to a recent press release, 42% of respondents have confirmed the productivity declines, while 60% of organizations reveal plans to reimagine careers and 88% have opened flexible work offerings.

In turn, many employees and employers have grown to value the ability to test their “upskill and reskill” ability, with 43% of employees reporting career advancement and remaining with a single employer as top priorities, and 36% admiring frequent learning opportunities.

“Degreed’s Learning Experience Platform (LXP) provides a market-leading, open ecosystem for L&D teams to curate learning opportunities and offer personalized learning to meet every learner’s needs and aspirations,” a press release stated. “This is complemented by the company’s experiential learning and Intelligence products that, in turn, stretch newly learned skills and help L&D leaders understand the availability and demand for specific skills in their organizations.”
