During the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, VPS Healthcare, a UAE-based private health care services platform, announced its commitment to offering 50 pediatric stem cell transplantations to refugees of the Ukraine conflict.
In a news release, Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, chairman and managing director of VPS Healthcare, noted that the company was giving its support to people impacted by the conflict in Ukraine.
“This contribution is being made toward the important task of rebuilding a strong community in the war-torn region,” he said in the news release. “We have seen that children, especially those undergoing cancer treatment, are suffering the most in this very unfortunate conflict. Burjeel Holdings will look to provide them with the care they desperately need.”
The release also noted that during the World Economic Forum, VPS Healthcare announced the debut of Burjeel Holdings and its commitment to backing Ukrainian refugees at the Burjeel House. The Burjeel House will promote global discussions on a range of topics, including health training and medical innovation.
Vayalil noted in the news release that Burjeel Holdings will enable the company to bring its health care holdings under one umbrella and allow the company to provide end-to-end health solutions.
“As we embark on our expansion journey, the platform will provide the foundation to scale up operations in new geographies in the GCC and beyond,” he said in the release. “It will also enable us to take strategic corporate actions needed to drive our future growth."
