AEye, Inc. has opened a new office in Munich, Germany. The company also appointed automotive engineering expert Andreas Prinz as technical sales director in Europe.

“We’ve experienced strong demand and traction in Europe across application segments, necessitating an on-the-ground physical presence to support AEye’s growing customer base,” Senior Vice President of Automotive for AEye Bernd Reichert said in a press release. “The new office will be led by Andreas Prinz, who has not only deep industry experience, but a long track record of successfully building and optimizing the performance of teams in various markets.”

The new European establishment will serve both current and aspiring customers in the region, addressing demands in the automotive, mobility, trucking, logistics and smart infrastructure industries. The opening follows others in Korea and Japan, the press release reports.

“Ramping up the Germany office is a natural next step in what has been a period of sustained growth for AEye,” Reichert said. “We are looking forward to working with existing customers, partners, suppliers and system integrators in Europe, while simultaneously engaging with new partners to serve the demand for safe, reliable autonomous solutions across the globe.”

Prinz will contribute more than two decades of automotive software experience, during which he served as director of customer programs for TTTech Auto in Munich, leading a group of more than 180. Before that, he worked at Magna Electronic, Harman, Continental Automotive Systems and Motorola.

Specializing in lidar solutions, AEye has spent the past year focusing on acquiring global market partners who are willing to contribute to the advancement of safe autonomy, strengthening its technology, product and manufacturing abilities.

The company, based in Dublin, California, recently exceeded its milestone of more than 100 global patents across four continents and more than 10 countries. It is listed as a publicly traded company on the Nasdaq stock exchange.
