Purigen Biosystems Inc. has entered a new distribution agreement with GC biotech BV.

“GC biotech is committed to working with the most advanced and innovative suppliers in the U.S. and the European Union to accelerate discoveries and simplify workflows in research and clinical laboratories,” Glenn Nohar, owner and CEO of GC biotech BV, said in a press release. “Purigen’s Ionic Purification System and kits are a strong addition to our overall product portfolio and will enable our customers to rapidly generate higher yields of DNA or RNA from their most precious biological samples.”

The terms of the agreement give GC Biotech exclusive rights to support and distribute Purigen’s Ionic® Purification System and microfluidic kits across Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands, granting clinical and oncology researchers in the region access to the automated system, a recent press release reports.

Based in Pleasanton, California, the advanced nucleic acids provider launched its Ionic Purification system in the U.S in 2019 "to extract higher yields of purified DNA and RNA from challenging samples in one hour."

Serving as a process facilitator, the nucleic acid extraction includes a wide range of variety types. It was stamped with a CE (Conformité Européene) marking in May 2021.

The system, requiring a smaller-than-usual sum of contributants fulfills the demands of experts in the industry, such as next-generation sequencing and qPCR, separates the component using isotachophoresis (ITP) technology, the system then applies an electrical field to the chip.

“GC biotech is well known in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg for its expertise and technical capabilities,” said Aziz Mustafa, senior director of European Sales and Business Development for Purigen Biosystems, in a press release. “This agreement is a significant step toward our goal of making the Ionic system readily available across the entire European Union."
