Endeavor company, IMG has acquired the Mutua Madrid Open tennis tournament and the Acciona Open de España golf tournament from Super Slam Ltd and its affiliates.

“We are proud to add the Mutua Madrid Open and Acciona Open de España to our portfolio,” co-president of media and events at IMG, Sam Zussman, said in a press release. “Drawing on our long history in tennis and golf and the MTP team’s expertise, we will build these events into even more unique and remarkable experiences for players, partners and fans.”

The new collaboration will make way for Madrid Trophy Promotion SLU to form part of IMG, a recent press release explains. The Spanish entity in charge of operating the tournaments will be led by MTP’s CEO and tournament director Gerard Tsobanian, who will serve as senior vice president of tennis events at IMG. Alongside his team, Tsobanian will oversee the team’s day-to-day tasks.

The acquisition is confirmed ahead of the team’s 20th anniversary-themed tournament, scheduled to take place from April 26 to May 8 at Caja Mágica in Madrid, Spain. The team joins IMG’s catalog of popular tennis tournaments, including the Miami Open and several other ATP and WTA events.

A Miami-based global entertainment agency specializing in sports, events, media and fashion, IMG will now also support the European Tour’s Acciona Open de España golf tournament. Established in 1912, the group also operated by MTP is now broadcasted in more than 120 countries.

The Mutual Madrid Open’s list of winners includes recognized athletes, such as Roger Federer, Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal, Petra Kvitová and Novak Djokovic.
