Herbalife Nutrition officially began operations at its newest Global Business Services Center in Whitefield, a suburb of Bangalore, India, amid a rise in local and global demands.

“Due to substantial growth in India over the last 12 years, our employee base has grown from 30 to more than 900 employees and we expect it to grow to approximately 1,500 over the next five years,” said Mark Schissel, Herbalife Nutrition COO.

The 154,697-square-foot facility features creative, contact and innovation centers, as well as a laboratory and research/development department, scheduled to open later this year, a recent press release stated.

The new establishment is estimated to help the company meet growing demands, both locally in India, which reported a year-over-year net sales growth rate of 49% last year, and on a global scale. It will also increase the company’s capabilities of improving its existing product offerings, and developing new ones.

“Our new facility will allow us to better serve the local market and the world by meeting the growing demand for our trusted nutrition products,” Schissel said.

So far, the global nutrition company has invested approximately $5 million in its newest Center of Excellence, which includes ample lap equipment and office space. It will serve as one of the largest out of 10 of the company’s technology hubs. The company aims to identify innovative ways to ensure “safety, quality and compliance” standards and “compliance to pollution control board requirements.”

The new quality and research lab will also prioritize the development of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards, which includes various tangible measures such as sensory booths, technical sensory analysis and various sense stimulators, among other methods said to “maintain modified atmospheric conditions of temperature and relative humidity to ascertain the impact of these environmental conditions on products to help determine shelf life,” Herbalife reported.
