A new Skechers operation is set to open in the Philippines to maximize the brand’s growth prospects in Asia.
In a Dec. 20 Business Wire release, David Weinberg, chief operating officer of Skechers USA, Inc, said Skechers’ appealing lifestyle collections, groundbreaking comfort innovations and corporate support will make for an ideal market in Southeast Asia.
“The Philippines has immense potential for Skechers, and with our dedicated team focused on growth and delivering the integrated capabilities of Skechers, we believe this step accelerates that potential,” Weinberg said in the release.
The company's previous distributor, Trendworks International, ceased distributing Skecher products at the end of 2021, the release stated. With the new operation, Skechers will reach more than 100 million people in the Philippines with a wide selection of products.
According to the release, an additional 10 to 12 locations are projected to open in the first six months of 2022. The company will begin with setting up offices in Manila, implementing a distribution center and opening their first store in the country this month.
Skechers merchandise will also be available in Planet Sports stores and The SM Store, the release stated.
