An American apparel brand has announced that it will align with a Brazilian counterpart to enter the Brazilian market during the spring 2022 season.
Original Penguin by Munsingwear will be partnering with Aste Group to relaunch the brand in the South American country with Oscar Feldenkreis, president and CEO of Perry Ellis International, according to a press release from Original Penguin.
“We are excited to expand our global distribution in the largest South American country with such a prominent retail partner, Aste Group,” Feldenkreis said. "This initiative represents the evolution of an authentic American lifestyle heritage brand appealing to a new diverse consumer.”
Original Penguin by Munsingwear is a division of Perry Ellis International and will permit its rights to Aste Group in order for the Brazilian apparel maker to distribute and license in the country that will focus on apparel fitting for athletic wear including golf, tennis and pickleball.
"We are delighted to take this new journey with Original Penguin and Perry Ellis International,” Aste Group Vice President Felipe Ernani said in the release. "We honestly believe in the power of true connections and identification, and this partnership just reinforces our common values and strong belief in the potential of the Brazilian lifestyle market.”
The Aste Group is also looking to expand its brand by trying to align with other American brands like New Balance, Jansport, Caterpillar and UG, according to the press release.
