Koning Corporation has initiated a partnership with Chesa Industries LTD to expand its breast computed tomography (CT) offerings into clinics across Southeast Asia.
In an Oct. 8 release the company said it hopes to install four Koning Breast CT (KBCT) units into clinics throughout Hong Kong and two per quarter in the coming months.
"This partnership will allow many more women to get true 3D breast imaging exams, and without the discomfort of compression," Chesa Industries CEO Dilip Parmanand said in the release.
According to the release, Parmanand has brought together a host of prominent Southeast Asian doctors to bring no-compression breast CT exams to women throughout the area.
This comes as findings indicate 80% of the Asian female population have dense breasts, making it harder for conventional mammograms to find lesions during their earliest stages, the release states. The new partnership will be a step forward in the pursuit of breast health around the world.
According to the release, as women return to their routine annual checkups, the demand for KBCT units has risen since the device cuts down on the need for multiple processes, for example mammograms followed by ultrasounds.
