Public safety technology firm Axon is partnering with the Puebla Municipal Police Department to equip officers with its TASER conducted electrical devices, according to a press release.
Axon's TASER electrical devices are critical tools designed to help officers safely de-escalate situations and reduce injuries to officers and members of the public. The Puebla Police Department joins the Monterrey Police Department in equipping officers with TASER devices in Mexico.
"Law enforcement agencies must be in the forefront of equipment and training in order to appropriately address the challenges of policing" Maria de Lourdes Rosales Martínez, Puebla's Municipal Secretary of Citizen Security, said. "Providing officers with less-lethal weapons continues to strengthen our public safety activities in order to maintain order and peace."
Axon is headquartered in Arizona and its officials have publicly spoken of the company's commitment to expanding its international footprint.
"We are excited to partner with the Puebla Police in implementing a TASER device program," Vishal Dhir, Axon's managing director of Canada and Latin America, said. "This procurement of the TASER X2 demonstrates Puebla Police's dedication to leveraging the latest technology to increase officer and community safety, putting them at the forefront of public safety technology in Mexico."
Axon also has offices in Seattle, Australia, Canada, Finland, Vietnam, the UK and the Netherlands.
