JOIN ICC IN GOING "ALL IN" ON THE PARIS AGREEMENT

Dear Colleague,

I hope this email finds you safe and well.

As you will be aware, the next few months are widely viewed as a critical moment to increase the speed of government action to tackle climate change.

Ahead of the next UN Climate Summit (COP 26) in Glasgow in November and the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Rome this October, we are working with a number of partners to send a clear signal to the world’s largest economies (and emitters) about the need for a truly concerted effort to reduce emissions in line with the latest climate science.

To this end, we would like to invite you to sign an open letter from companies across the world to G20 leaders. As you will note, the letter calls on the G20 to go “all in” to keep the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C goal within reach by raising their national climate commitments — as well as taking specific policy action on phasing out coal-fired power generation, removing fossil fuel subsidies and delivering on the US$100 billion finance commitment to developing countries.

If you’d be interested in pledging your company’s support to this call to action, you can register your support by completing the sign up form on the letter’s landing page or forwarding this to another representative of your organization who would be better placed to make this public commitment.

The letter will be launched on or around the 1st of October — with the deadline for signatories the 23rd of September. Further details are available here.

On a related note, during COP from 1 – 12 November, ICC will host the fully virtual ICC Make Climate Action Everyone’s Business Forum. Featuring partner-hosted sessions from leading businesses, industry associations and non-governmental organizations, the conference aims to catalyze coherent policy dialogue on critical climate, energy and environment related issues, including the recommendations of the G20 call to action. Questions about the conference can be directed to ICC External Affairs Advisor, Sabrina Klayman (Sabrina.klayman@iccwbo.org).

We hope you’ll be willing to join these landmark initiatives from the global business community on climate action.

With best wishes,

Andrew Wilson
