CP Kelco is investing more than $50 million into NUTRAVA™ Citrus Fiber to expand the production capacity due to strong customer demand and market potential.
The new expansion will add a second production line to NUTRAVA™ Citrus Fiber's Matao, Brazil, facility for an additional approximated 5,000 metric tons, according to a CP Kelco press release.
"We are excited about reaching this important milestone in our journey with NUTRAVA Citrus Fiber, which originated as a proof-of-concept only four years ago," Didier Viala, president of CP Kelco, said in the press release. "As a result of strong collaboration amongst our global team members and development partners since that time, our citrus fiber has evolved into a robust product line for use across a range of food and beverage applications, with a growing customer pipeline globally. We look forward to continuing to explore the possibilities for NUTRAVA Citrus Fiber in additional application segments."
CP Kelco is the leading citrus fiber supplier to beverages, food and consumer products and was developed in response to customers looking for things with fewer ingredients and negative additives, the press release said.
According to the release, NUTRAVA Citrus Fiber, which was launched in December 2019, is a next-generation ingredient made from sustainably sourced citrus peels – a byproduct of the juicing industry –and helps manufacturers of citrus fiber items meet clean label needs with critical functionality for consumers.
The expansion is planned for completion in 2023, and will allow for an increased capacity based on customer demand, as demand is called for, the release said.
