Topgolf is coming to China.
The Dallas-based sports company announced Sept. 8 plans to open a new facility in Shanghai Sept. 14.
"We're thrilled to be introducing both our indoor lounge and iconic entertainment venue experience to the people of China in partnership with our SEAL development group," said Topgolf Chief Executive Officer Artie Starrs.
The new venture will be the first of its kind in China.
"The SEAL team has created a stunning indoor Lounge by Topgolf experience in Shanghai and is also poised to bring a truly innovative and technology-driven outdoor venue concept to Chengdu – both of which are sure to bring the sports entertainment experience to a new level for the communities across the region," Starrs said.
Topgolf's Chengdu venue will open in 2022 and measure almost 130,000 square feet. Once completed, the center will be the largest Topgolf location in the world.
Topgolf Shanghai will feature 21,000 square feet of entertainment space including restaurants, an indoor lounge with a 9-hole mini golf course and golf simulators. The lounge will be able to accommodate up to 300 people, the release stated.
The Chengdu location will feature a three-floor entertainment complex with a sunken plaza, as well as 104 outdoor hitting bays, 14 VIP rooms, and six Topgolf Swing Suite indoor simulator bays. It will also boast a kid's activity space, mini-golf facilities, and a variety of food and beverage options.
"We are ecstatic to bring the full Topgolf experience to our Chinese consumers,” Eva Wang, vice president of real estate development for Topgolf China said. “With a combination of sports and entertainment, as well as high-quality food and beverage selections within the venues, Lounge by Topgolf Shanghai and Topgolf Chengdu will be perfect places for people of all ages to spend the day with family and friends. From children to parents and grandparents, Topgolf will engage everyone with an immersive, interactive, and fun experience."
Topgolf also plans to open locations in the U.S., the U.K., Australia, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates. Construction is underway now for locations in Germany and Thailand.
