Gage Growth Corp. will soon begin selling the Cookies cannabis brand online in Ontario, Canada.
Cookies brand cannabis products will be sold in Ontario through the Ontario Cannabis Store, which bill itself as the only legal online retailer of recreational cannabis in Ontario. The brand will become available some time before the end of the year, Gage said in a release. Gage also plans to open a Cookies retail store in Canada by the end of the year.
“The growth of the Canadian market creates more diverse and demanding consumers, and we’re excited to bring one of the best-known cannabis brands in the world to customers across Canada,” Fabian Monaco, Gage CEO, said in the release.
Based in Detroit, Gage will work with Canadian cannabis producer Noya Cannabis to launch the brand in Ontario, Gage said in the release. The company intends to expand Cookies across other provinces after the first location's launch.
Gage began its affiliation with Cookies after entering a license agreement with the California-based brand in April 2019, MJBizDaily reported. In another agreement signed in November 2020, Cookies granted Gage the rights to sell Cookies-brand products in Ontario. Gage then transfered those rights to the recently incorporated Cookies Canada.
Under the deal agreed upon by Gage and Cookies in November, Gage holds an 80% stake in the new company.
According to a filing in May of this year, Cookies Canada has plans to open a total of two outlets in Canada this year, MJBizDaily reported.
