Promotion of a San Francisco-based global engineering firm's delivery vice president in the Americas to the top spot in that department will expand market share and assurance performance, the firm's chief operation officer said in a recent press release.

Nyree Quintero, who had been vice president and former deputy director of T.Y. Lin International (TYLI)'s Group for Alternative Delivery in the Americas, is now the director of that group, according to the company's release.

"Nyree has demonstrated that she has the leadership qualities, client-centered mindset and experience necessary to foster strong relationships with contractors and project owners and leverage T.Y. Lin International’s technical expertise and resources on alternative delivery projects," Tom Price, TYLI executive vice president and COO, said in the release. "We look forward to her success in expanding market share and assuring performance for the Alternative Delivery Method Group."

Quintero is now responsible for assuring overall performance in the company's projects at the enterprise level by providing oversight, guidance and best practices in TYLI's market sectors, and she reports to Price, according to the news release.

Price joined TYLI in September.

TYLI is probably best known for designing long-span bridges and other specialty structures. The firm works out of more than 65 regional locations and offices on four continents in Asia Pacific and the Americas, and employs more than 3,000 planners, architects, engineers and scientists

Quintero, who has more than 20 years of international project management experience, currently oversees TYLI's $1.5 million public works project in Panama to build a fourth bridge over the Panama Canal, according to the press release.

TYLI is the "owner’s engineer" on the Panama project, which includes a 1,000-meter, cable-stayed bridge, approach bridges and three major interchanges that will collect and distribute road and metro-rail traffic that crosses the canal between the eastern and western Panama City.

Quintero, who holds engineering and business degrees from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and the Universidad de La Sabana in Colombia, is Design-Build Professional certified. She also is a certified general contractor in Florida and she is licensed as a professional civil engineer by Consejo Profesional Nacional de Ingenieria y Arquitectura in Colombia.
