The American Society of Appraisers (ASA)'s first president from outside the United States brings much to the table, the organization's CEO said in a recent news release.

DavAir Group Managing Director David Crick's one-year term as ASA international president began July 1, according to the ASA news release issued Friday, July 9. He lives in the greater Brisbane area in Australia and is an ASA lecturer for aviation appraisal theory and practice.

"David's unique experience, leadership and perspective will be a valuable asset," ASA CEO Johnnie White said in the news release. "His confirmation by membership attests to the Society's continued commitment to an international footprint. He, along with other leaders and staff will serve an instrumental role in meeting the needs of our international membership from 60 countries and ensuring our global expansion efforts are fully realized."

It's an honor, Crick said in the same news release.

"I am honored and excited to take on the role of International President and look forward to supporting ASA's global outreach," Crick said.

Crick arrives during a critical period in the ASA's history. Over the past 15 months, the society has dealt with the ongoing pandemic and implemented a new governance model to better foster strategic leadership within the organization. The organization is also upgrading its technology infrastructure to include new association, learning and financial management systems with an eye toward improving efficiencies and customer service.

The society's online presence is getting a facelift as well to modernize and improve user experience.

The initiatives and new governance model is expected to allow for expansion into new areas of the profession and to address global issues, according to the news release.

"Excellence knows no boundaries, which is why now more than ever the time is right to connect with our international counterparts," White said in the news release. "Throughout the pandemic, we have seen continued demand by members, appraisers and allied professionals around the world for ASA's education, credentialing and membership programs, as well as by consumers looking to hire qualified members, and as the world moves forward ASA anticipates this demand will only increase."
