The popular golfing entertainment playground Topgolf, led by the Topgolf Entertainment Group, took a step toward entering the South American market, partnering with developer TG Latam (TGLA) to open a facility in the Colombian capital of Bogotá.
The entertainment company signed a developer agreement with TG Latam, which was founded in 2019 for the purpose of bringing Topgolf to South America, Topgolf said in a press release. The foray into Bogotá is intended as the first of many Topgolf locations across South America.
Topgolf VP of International Strategy and Franchise Management Steve Lane said that this milestone was a calculated measure towards expansion of the company’s worldwide footprint.
“This exciting partnership with TGLA is another major step forward for Topgolf's global expansion strategy,” he said.
The golfing-themed venue in Bogotá will use the company’s signature technology, with multiple levels of entertainment and 102 climate-controlled and outdoor hitting bays, the company said in the release.
"Topgolf is an ideal concept to bring to the communities of South America, and we can't wait to welcome the people of Bogotá to TGLA's first Topgolf venue," TGLA co-founder Freddy Alcantara said in the release. Alcantara is joined by two other co-founders and principals, Carlos Alcantara and Ignacio Arcaya. All three were born in Venezuela. TGLA has a headquarters in Madrid and offices in Bogotá.
Topgolf operates 70 venues worldwide, many of which are located in America, along with three in the UK and one each in Mexico, Australia and Dubai.
“We are looking forward to working with TGLA to bring our signature fun and innovative Topgolf experience to communities across South America,” Lane said.
Topgolf has also set its sights on opening new franchised venues across Asia and Central Europe, with locations currently in development in Oberhausen, Germany and Bangkok, Thailand, the company said.
All Topgolf venues feature high-tech gaming, climate-controlled and outdoor hitting bays, a chef-driven menu, hand-crafted cocktails, music, and corporate and social event spaces, the company said in its release.
