Meta has announced a new software update for its AI glasses, introducing several features aimed at enhancing user experience. The v21 update is being rolled out to users, adding tools such as conversation focus and Spotify integration.
The conversation focus feature, which was first introduced at Connect earlier this year, is now available to members of the Early Access Program for Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta HSTN glasses in the US and Canada. This function allows users to better hear others in noisy environments by amplifying the voice of the person they are speaking with. According to Meta, "Whether you’re eating at a busy restaurant, commuting on the train, or catching your favorite DJ’s latest set, conversation focus uses the open-ear speakers on your AI glasses to amplify the voice of the person you’re talking to. You’ll hear the amplified voice sound slightly louder, which will help you distinguish the conversation from ambient background noise so you can stay tuned into the moments that matter." Users can adjust amplification levels either by swiping on their glasses or through device settings.
Another addition is a multimodal AI music experience developed in partnership with Spotify. This feature allows users to request music that matches what they are looking at using computer vision and Spotify’s personalization capabilities. As described by Meta: "Whether you’re looking at an album cover or a festive holiday scene, you can simply say, 'Hey Meta, play a song to match this view.' This bridges computer vision and recognition with Spotify’s powerful personalization to create a playlist based on your unique taste, customized for that specific moment." The service is currently available in English across multiple countries including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Spain, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, UK and US.
Meta encourages those interested in accessing these features early to join its Early Access Program.
