Swansea University has presented an honorary award to Dr Laurent Charlet, a professor at the University of Grenoble-Alpes and a leading figure in environmental science. Dr Charlet is known for his expertise in chemical reactivity at the molecular scale and plays a key role at the Institute of Earth Science.

His research addresses several important scientific issues, including the use of nanoparticles in cancer treatment, improvements in water quality, hydrogen storage solutions, and nuclear waste management. He has received multiple honors for his work, such as the CNRS Silver Medal for Excellence in Research. Dr Charlet has also held visiting professorships at EPFL-Lausanne in Switzerland and Utrecht University in the Netherlands, and he is an honorary member of the Institut Universitaire de France.

Dr Charlet's leadership extends internationally. He has served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Hydrology and led the French Chapter of the International Medical Geology Association. He has worked with UNESCO on preserving prehistoric sites like Lascaux. In 2007, he was named Distinguished Professor for his contributions to environmental science.

In addition to his role in Grenoble, Dr Charlet holds affiliated positions at Swansea University, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in the United States, and the University of Waterloo in Canada. His ongoing collaboration with Swansea University has contributed to advancements in health, sustainability, and environmental protection.
