The United States has expressed concern over ongoing fighting and reported casualties along the border between Cambodia and Thailand. Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a statement urging an immediate end to hostilities and emphasizing the need for civilian protection.
Rubio called on both countries to adhere to previous agreements, stating: "We strongly urge the immediate cessation of hostilities, the protection of civilians, and for both sides to return to the de-escalatory measures outlined in the October 26 Kuala Lumpur Peace Accords signed by the Prime Ministers of Cambodia and Thailand and witnessed by President Trump and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim."
The U.S. position comes amid continued tensions at several points along the border, with reports of armed clashes affecting local populations. The October 26 Kuala Lumpur Peace Accords were intended to reduce tensions in the region, but recent events have challenged those efforts.
