The United States and Montenegro have begun negotiations to establish a bilateral agreement aimed at enhancing trade, investment, and economic relations. This announcement was made during the 2025 U.S.-Montenegro Economic Dialogue.

According to the statement, the United States is recognized for its economic innovation and reliability, with American companies showing increased interest in business opportunities within Montenegro’s expanding economy. The ongoing talks are intended to encourage more U.S. private sector investment, which could contribute to job creation in both countries.

Additionally, the negotiations are expected to reinforce Montenegro’s position as a NATO Ally and create further prospects for prosperity in both nations as well as the broader region.

“These negotiations will aim to promote greater U.S. private sector investment to drive U.S. and Montenegrin job growth, strengthen Montenegro’s role as a NATO Ally, and unlock further opportunities for U.S., Montenegrin, and regional prosperity,” according to the official announcement.
