Facebook has announced a series of updates aimed at simplifying how users create, discover, and share content on its platform. The changes are designed to make it easier for people to connect with friends and find content relevant to their interests.
The company is introducing a more streamlined Feed that arranges multiple photos in a standardized grid. Users can now like photos in the Feed by double-tapping them and view content in full screen by clicking into it. Facebook will also place its most-used features, such as Reels, Friends, Marketplace, and Profile, prominently on the tab bar for easier access. A refreshed menu design and cleaner tab notifications are being rolled out to help users keep up with updates across the platform.
Search results will now display more content types in an immersive grid layout. Facebook is testing a new full-screen viewer for exploring photo and video results without losing your place in search, with plans to expand this feature further.
Users will have more control over their Feeds by providing feedback on posts or Reels they do not like. According to Facebook: “We also want you to shape your Feed in the ways you want. You can give feedback as to why you don’t like a certain Facebook post or Reel so that the content you see moving forward is more relevant. We will continue to introduce new ways for you to shape your Feed and provide your algorithm feedback in the coming months.”
Content creation tools have been redesigned for Stories and Feed posts, making popular features such as adding music and tagging friends easier to access. Advanced options like colorful text backgrounds remain available with one tap. Audience selection and cross-posting settings are now displayed more prominently when composing posts.
Commenting across Feed, Groups, and Reels has been simplified through streamlined replies, prominent badging, and new pinning tools intended to make conversations easier to follow. Group admins and creators have expanded controls for monitoring discussions on their content. All users can now anonymously flag comments that are irrelevant or do not fit the spirit of the conversation.
Updates are also being made to user profiles with an emphasis on real connections based on shared interests. As stated by Facebook: “We’re also making it easier to find people with similar interests. When you update your profile, Facebook will help you discover friends who share your passions or who may have useful advice on shared interests by surfacing them within your profile.” For example, if someone lists sourdough bread baking as an interest or mentions planning a trip, Facebook may highlight friends who can offer related tips or suggestions.
Privacy controls allow users to choose who sees specific profile updates or whether those updates appear in their Feeds.
“These improvements are just the beginning in making Facebook less cluttered and easier to use, so you can focus on the people and interests you care the most about,” said Facebook representatives.
Further updates are expected throughout 2026.
