Herschel Walker, Ambassador | U.S. Embassy in Bahamas

Herschel Walker has officially assumed his duties as the United States Ambassador to the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. His arrival was marked by a ceremony at Government House, where he presented his letters of credence to Her Excellency Dame Cynthia A. Pratt. Following this formal presentation, a flag raising took place at the ambassador’s official residence.

Walker was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 7, 2025, and was sworn in as Ambassador-Designate at the White House on October 17, 2025.

Ambassador Walker will begin his tenure by meeting with officials from the Bahamian government as well as leaders in business, education, culture, and sports. He is also scheduled to receive briefings from U.S. Embassy leadership focused on safeguarding American citizens and promoting security and prosperity for both countries.

“I am deeply honored to arrive in The Bahamas as the United States Ambassador and grateful to the President and the U.S. Senate for entrusting me with this important responsibility,” said Ambassador Walker. “The Bahamas and the United States share a rich history and enduring partnership, and I am excited to work alongside our Bahamian friends to strengthen the bonds between our nations. My wife and I have visited the islands several times, and I have great admiration for the warmth and resilience of the Bahamian people. I look forward to engaging with communities throughout The Bahamas and I am committed to advancing our shared interests and values in the months and years ahead.”
