The U.S. Embassy in Tunis has announced that it will continue its normal operations, including all visa appointments and routine consular services, as well as emergency services for U.S. citizens.
This update comes after a previous notice from December 5, 2025, which had stated that the embassy would limit its operations starting December 8. That earlier notice is no longer in effect. The embassy attributed the return to regular activities to cooperation between U.S. and Tunisian officials.
“All visa interviews and other routine and emergency consular services for U.S. citizens will continue to be available; any cancelled visa appointments and American Citizen Services appointments will be rescheduled. Please wait for the Embassy to contact you to reschedule your appointment,” the embassy stated.
U.S. citizens traveling abroad are encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive consular alerts during their trips. More information on how to sign up is available at https://mytravel.state.gov/s/step.
