On December 5, 2025, the Colombian Geologic Service raised the alert level for the Puracé volcano, located in Puracé National Natural Park in Cauca Department, to orange. This change follows observations of increased seismic activity and ongoing release of volcanic gases. The volcano is a well-known hiking destination and last erupted in 2023.

The U.S. Embassy in Colombia issued a notice advising people to avoid the immediate area around the volcano and not to climb to the summit or enter the caldera. Travelers and residents are encouraged to monitor local news for updates.
