The U.S. Embassy in Seoul has introduced the Korean Investment and Travel (KIT) Desk, a new initiative aimed at strengthening economic relations between the United States and South Korea. The KIT Desk is designed to support South Korean companies making significant investments in the United States by providing resources for investment and travel, ensuring that these processes are efficient and welcoming.
According to the Embassy, the KIT Desk is managed by its Economic Section with assistance from interagency partners. Its main objectives include working with major Korean firms investing in the United States to further projects outlined in the November 14 Joint Fact Sheet, as well as encouraging ongoing investment, workforce development, and economic cooperation between the two countries.
The KIT Desk also assists leading Korean investors with business travel issues, offers guidance on visa-related matters, and promotes clear communication about U.S. immigration requirements. This is intended to facilitate continued investment while ensuring compliance with American laws.
The Embassy stated it will maintain engagement with members of the business community to demonstrate its commitment to supporting Korean investment through the efforts of the KIT Desk.
"The establishment of the KIT Desk underscores the Embassy’s commitment to welcoming and encouraging Korean investment that supports American reindustrialization, strengthens the U.S.-ROK Alliance, and enhances shared prosperity," according to a statement from the Embassy.
