U.S. Embassy in Tunis restricts operations due to new local labor laws

The U.S. Embassy in Tunis has announced that it will limit its operations starting December 8, 2025, following changes to Tunisian labor law. According to the embassy, all visa appointments and routine consular services will be rescheduled until normal operations resume.

Emergency services for U.S. citizens will continue to be available during this period.

A statement from the embassy reads: "Due to the impact of changes to Tunisian labor law, the U.S. Embassy in Tunis will limit operations starting December 8, 2025. All visa services and routine American Citizen Services will be rescheduled once the embassy returns to normal operations. Emergency services for U.S. citizens will continue to be available."
