Santander has been recognized as the Best Bank in Europe by The Banker magazine, following the announcement of its “Bank of the Year 2025” awards. The bank also received accolades as the top bank in Spain, Portugal, Poland, and Chile.

The Banker’s judges cited Santander’s strong financial results, operational resilience, and progress in digital transformation across its main markets. They noted that the bank’s broad geographic diversification and improved ratings contributed to its success. The acquisition of TSB in the UK was highlighted as a key part of Santander’s growth strategy, alongside solid performance in Spain, Portugal, and Poland.

In addition to these regional awards, Santander was named Best Transactional Bank in Latin America. This award acknowledges Santander’s achievements in strategic innovation, transaction execution, competitive differentiation, and customer service within corporate and transactional banking.

The Banker magazine is owned by the Financial Times and has been publishing since 1926. Its annual ‘Bank of the Year’ awards are considered a benchmark for excellence within the banking industry. Institutions are evaluated on their ability to maintain strong financial performance while adapting to changes within the sector.

According to The Banker, "The competing institutions are judged on their ability to deliver strong financial performance while turning challenges into opportunities in an ever-evolving business environment."
