Senior officials met in Naqoura on December 3 for the 14th Pentalateral meeting to review ongoing efforts aimed at achieving a lasting cessation of hostilities in Lebanon.

The session included former Ambassador Simon Karam of Lebanon and Dr. Uri Resnick, National Security Council Senior Director for Foreign Policy from Israel, who joined Counselor Morgan Ortagus as civilian participants. Their involvement is intended to strengthen the Mechanism’s focus on both political and military discussions with the goal of reaching security, stability, and long-term peace for communities affected by conflict.

According to the press release, “All parties welcomed the additional participation as an important step toward ensuring that the work of the Pentalateral is anchored in lasting civilian, as well as, military dialogue.”

The Committee expressed its intention to continue working with Ambassador Karam and Dr. Resnick in future meetings and to consider their recommendations as part of ongoing efforts to support peace along the border.
