Ambassador Issa has expressed appreciation to the Government and people of Lebanon for their reception of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV during a recent visit. The ambassador noted that the organization and unity shown in hosting the event highlight Lebanon’s resilience and ability to respond collectively in important moments.
The ambassador also acknowledged both Lebanon and Israel for starting a dialogue at what was described as a sensitive time. "This step signals a sincere willingness to pursue peaceful, responsible solutions grounded in good faith. Durable progress can only be achieved when both sides feel their concerns are respected and their hopes recognized. Compromise, understanding, and principled leadership remain essential," Ambassador Issa stated.
He further welcomed the Lebanese Government’s decision to engage in dialogue after years of uncertainty, calling it a constructive move toward finding ways for both countries to coexist peacefully.
"As the United States’ Ambassador to Lebanon, I reaffirm our commitment to supporting all efforts that advance peace, stability, and security. The United States stands ready to engage and assist in initiatives that ease the burdens carried by populations who have endured deep physical and moral hardship — hardship no society should ever have to face," said Ambassador Issa.
