The U.S. Embassy is supporting the "Love the Game" program, an initiative by Girls United FA México A.C., in Iztapalapa (Mexico City), Bacalar, and Chetumal (Quintana Roo) as part of activities surrounding the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The program aims to promote sports through soccer training in schools, training for local female coaches, and community events that encourage girls and young women to participate in sports.

Key objectives include empowering girls through soccer, developing local female soccer coaches, and increasing the visibility of women in sports.

The project organizes school sessions at three campuses per community, offers training courses for coaches, and holds community events on important dates.

According to organizers, "More young people will have access to safe spaces for practicing sports. There will be a greater legacy of participation in Mexican football. Leadership skills will be developed to face challenges in communities where organized crime is present."
