The U.S. Mission to Vietnam has partnered with Vietnamese rapper Suboi to release an original music video titled “Never Before.” The launch is part of a year-long campaign marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States and Vietnam.
The music video revisits important moments in the relationship between the two countries and highlights young people as central to the current partnership. Using Suboi’s style and modern visuals, the project aims to reach youth audiences, celebrating their ambitions and global perspective. It presents the anniversary not only as a historical milestone but also as an ongoing process influenced by creativity and collaboration.
Ambassador Marc E. Knapper stated, “As we celebrate 30 years of U.S.–Vietnam relations, we are proud to connect with young people through creativity. Suboi’s contribution helps bring the story of our partnership to life in a contemporary form, reaffirming the significant role youth will play in shaping our shared future.”
“Never Before” combines rap with traditional Vietnamese instruments for a blend that connects modern rhythms with cultural heritage. This mix aims to present diplomatic themes in a way that feels both relevant and respectful.
Suboi said, “It is a great honor for me to contribute to the celebration of 30 years of U.S.–Vietnam relations. The MV ‘Never Before’ conveys the spirit, energy, and aspirations of today’s Vietnamese young generation.
