Ludwig Fazel will become the new Head of Group Strategy, Group Product Strategy, and the General Secretariat at Volkswagen Group starting December 1, 2025. Fazel will report directly to CEO Oliver Blume. He replaces Stefan Weckbach, who is leaving the company by his own decision.
Oliver Blume, CEO of the Volkswagen Group, said: "We would like to thank Stefan Weckbach for his strong commitment over the past years. With his expertise, he has driven key future projects such as Scout and our joint venture with Rivian and played a decisive role in positioning Volkswagen as the Global Automotive Tech Driver. I am pleased that Ludwig Fazel, an experienced strategist, will take over this important role. He has repeatedly demonstrated that he is able to successfully advance a core area of our company in challenging environments — both operationally and strategically. I am confident that we will successfully tackle the tasks ahead together."
Fazel studied Management and Technology at the Technical University of Munich and Nanyang Business School in Singapore. He previously worked as a strategy consultant at Roland Berger from 2008 to 2017. At Volkswagen Group Components, Fazel was responsible for overseeing about 65,000 employees in its global production network and led strategic direction for Group Technology including Battery and Charging & Energy business areas. He also helped develop external partnerships with companies such as Ford and Mahindra through platform and component sales.
Stefan Weckbach joined Porsche in 2008 after earning a doctorate from the University of St. Gallen and later held roles in corporate strategy and product line management before becoming Head of Group Strategy at Volkswagen AG in September 2023.
