Since its establishment in 2001 by Congress, the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) has provided support for the conservation of cultural heritage worldwide. The fund assists with projects that protect historic buildings, archaeological sites, museum collections, paintings, manuscripts, and endangered Indigenous languages.

The AFCP aims to enable the United States to take a prominent role in global efforts to preserve cultural heritage and demonstrate respect for diverse traditions. Since 2021, Vietnam has received financial backing for 17 projects under this program. These initiatives have been granted a total of $1,246,775.
