The U.S. Mission to International Organizations in Vienna (USUN Vienna) hosted its first U.S. Space Forum on November 21, 2025, at the Vienna International Center. The event gathered representatives from United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) Member States, private space companies, and international organizations.
The forum focused on topics such as space commercialization, utilization of space resources, and the development of commercial space stations. It also discussed the role of private sector capabilities in shaping future activities beyond Earth.
During his opening remarks, USUN Vienna Chargé d’Affaires Howard Solomon said, “Humanity’s future amongst the stars is inevitable, and the journey there will be made thanks to the contributions of all of us.”
A significant part of the forum was dedicated to discussing the Artemis Accords—a U.S.-led framework that promotes safe and peaceful exploration of outer space. To date, 59 countries have signed these accords, with increasing participation from emerging space nations.
The event underscored ongoing American efforts to advance space exploration through international cooperation and public-private partnerships.
The U.S. Space Forum aligns with stated priorities for President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio regarding leadership in global space initiatives.
