Macquarie Asset Management has reached an agreement to sell its interests in Arqiva, a UK-based company known for providing data, network, and communications services to media and utilities companies. The sale is being made on behalf of Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund II and other funds managed by Macquarie.

Arqiva plays a significant role in the UK's broadcasting infrastructure as the only provider of digital terrestrial television and national radio broadcast services. Over the period of Macquarie's investment, Arqiva has installed approximately 3 million smart energy and water meters, establishing itself as a leader in smart utilities networks. The company was also responsible for delivering the Digital Switchover Project, which transitioned UK homes to digital terrestrial TV.

Currently, Arqiva’s infrastructure supports digital connectivity for much of the country, reaching 98.5 percent of the UK population through Freeview.

The completion of this transaction remains subject to standard regulatory approvals.
