Foreign visitors planning to attend the FIFA World Cup 26 in the United States are being reminded to ensure they have the correct travel documents. According to guidance from U.S. authorities, all travelers must possess passports valid for at least six months beyond their intended stay, except for citizens of countries exempt from this requirement. More information is available on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website.
Canadian and Bermudan passport holders do not need additional authorization to enter the United States as tourists. Visitors from any of the 42 countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program can apply through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). Fans from other countries will need a valid U.S. visitor visa (B1/B2) to attend matches.
The Department of State encourages those who require a visa but do not yet have one to apply as soon as possible. The department states its commitment "to protecting our nation and its citizens — as well as all of the teams and fans participating in FIFA World Cup 26 events — by upholding the highest standards of national security and public safety through our visa process."
For travelers unsure about which documents are necessary, resources such as the Visa Wizard are available for guidance.
President Donald J. Trump commented, "This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity to showcase the beauty and the greatness of America. And we can’t wait to welcome soccer fans from all over the globe."
