The U.S. Embassy in Panama has donated an operations center and two cargo trucks, valued at about $1 million, to the National Border Service (SENAFRONT) during its 17th anniversary celebration. The donation was made official by U.S. Ambassador Kevin Marino Cabrera and is intended to bolster Panama's efforts against terrorism, narcotrafficking, and transnational criminal organizations.
The funding for the new facilities and vehicles comes from the U.S. Department of War. In addition, approximately $400,000 worth of equipment from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) will soon be provided to further equip the operations center.
Ambassador Cabrera highlighted the significance of these resources for Panama’s security services. “Allow SENAFRONT to more efficiently coordinate operations and respond to threats with greater speed and precision. Importantly, they help advance our shared regional priorities—disrupting criminal networks, protecting communities from drugs, and ensuring secure borders,” said Cabrera.
The United States emphasized its ongoing commitment under President Trump’s administration to work alongside Panama in enhancing border security and addressing cross-border threats.
