Siemens has announced the launch of its Circular Repair Services, an initiative aimed at helping companies extend the lifespan of their automation products and support a shift toward a circular economy. The new services offer different levels of refurbishment for Siemens devices, including automation products and industrial drives.
“With CircularRepair Services, companies can choose the extent to which they want to restore the performance and appearance of their Siemens devices to high-quality,” stated Marc Konrad, Head of Global Customer Services for Motion Control. “This comprehensive offering helps our customers extend the useful life of products, use resources more effectively, achieve reliable efficiency and is therefore the direct answer to the market requests we have received.”
The Circular Repair Advanced service focuses on restoring products to full performance by replacing non-functioning or worn-out parts while leaving minor cosmetic blemishes that do not affect functionality. This service applies to several Siemens product families such as selected Simatic HMI Panels, Simatic IPCs, Sinumerik, Sinamics S, and Simodrive products. Devices are tested according to Siemens’ quality standards and updated with necessary software or firmware.
For more comprehensive needs, Circular Repair Premium provides a full remanufacturing process using artificial intelligence to diagnose malfunctions. Service experts replace both faulty components and those likely to fail soon with original factory-tested parts. Damaged housings are also replaced if needed to restore the device’s original appearance. After updates and hardware renewals, each product undergoes extensive testing before being returned with a 24-month warranty.
The company notes that these repair services enable extended product lifetimes and improved plant availability through Siemens' global network of repair centers. The initiative supports customers transitioning from linear production models toward circular economies by maximizing resource use.
The rollout of Circular Repair Services is starting in selected countries for specific products with plans for future expansion in both range and geographic coverage.
