The U.S. Consulate General in Auckland has announced that its Consular Section will offer passport acceptance services in Rarotonga, Cook Islands on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. The services will be available from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with appointments assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

U.S. citizens interested in these services are required to be available for a five-minute interview at any time during the scheduled window. The consulate noted that due to demand, it cannot honor specific time slots.

Services offered at this outreach event include U.S. passport renewals for children under age 16, passport renewals for first-time adults over age 16, and replacement of lost or stolen passports. The consulate clarified that “this service is not a complete adjudication, though you will be seen by a consular officer. At your scheduled time, you will submit all required forms and copies, take the oath, and sign the relevant forms. Your application will be forwarded to Auckland for final adjudication and processing. You will not have the opportunity to ask questions about your case at the appointment, and concerns should be resolved via email prior to your appointment. Please expect about 8-10 weeks for processing.”

Other services such as adult passport renewals (for those whose previous passports were issued less than 15 years ago), emergency passports, consular reports of birth abroad, notary services, renunciation of citizenship, federal benefits inquiries or other citizen services will not be provided during this event.

Adults seeking renewal of their ten-year passports issued within the last fifteen years are advised to submit their applications by mail directly to Auckland; no interview is necessary.

To schedule an appointment for December 2nd, applicants must email AucklandOutreach@state.gov with required personal details including names of applicants and parents attending (if applicable), date(s) of birth and type of service needed. Only individuals listed on the appointment schedule will be allowed entry onto the Embassy compound; children aged fifteen and under must be accompanied by both parents listed on their birth certificate.

Once scheduled, applicants will receive confirmation with instructions regarding payment procedures and documentation requirements.
