Thailand is set to host the IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings in October 2026. In preparation, the World Bank Group (WBG) has introduced "Building Thailand's Future Today," a report and consultation platform aimed at outlining a development vision for the country. The initiative will assess Thailand's current achievements and identify future priorities, with the goal of setting out a practical path toward becoming a high-income and inclusive society.

According to the WBG, job creation remains central to its global strategy. The new report applies this focus by highlighting five industries with strong potential for Thailand: advanced manufacturing, agribusiness, digital services, sustainable and health tourism, and creative industries.

The next phase involves engaging stakeholders across government, business, academia, and civil society to develop shared visions for these sectors. A foresight and consultation process will be launched publicly on November 1 through major media channels. Applications for participation are open from November 1-20, 2025. Interested parties include experts from large firms and SMEs, startups, research institutions, standards bodies, city leaders, investors, and civil organizations.

Participants can join foresight workshops between November and December 2025 to collaboratively create scenarios for Thailand’s future. An expert validation roundtable will follow in early 2026 to refine these scenarios.

Each sector-specific report will outline key drivers of change, possible future scenarios with workforce profiles, gap analyses with milestones toward preferred outcomes, as well as policy recommendations that will feed into the broader "Building Thailand's Future Today" Vision Report for 2026.

The World Bank Group states that participants will help shape Thailand’s long-term narrative while gaining early access to insights from the process. They will also have opportunities to connect with policymakers and international experts.

"Shape Thailand’s long-term national narrative

Gain early access to foresight insights

Network with policymakers, innovators, and global experts

Ensure your sector’s priorities and challenges are reflected internationally"
