The World Bank has issued a warning to the public in Bangladesh regarding fraudulent schemes that misuse its name and logo. According to a statement released on November 12, 2025, the organization has received reports of scams in which individuals are offered loans purportedly from the World Bank in exchange for fees.

The World Bank clarified that it does not provide loans directly to individuals nor does it request personal financial information. The statement noted that scammers have created fake Facebook pages and IDs, using various methods to impersonate the institution and solicit payments through mobile banking channels.

"If individuals encounter such fraudulent schemes, they are encouraged to report to the local authorities immediately," the statement said.

The World Bank emphasized its lack of involvement in these activities and urged people to be cautious of any solicitations falsely claiming affiliation with the organization. "The World Bank has no involvement in such schemes, and we would like to caution you to be wary of these and other similar solicitations that falsely claim to be affiliated with the World Bank," according to the official notice.
