Barclays has announced changes to its parental leave policies for employees in the UK and Asia Pacific regions. Starting January 1, 2026, the company will increase paternity leave in the UK from two weeks to 16 weeks. In Asia Pacific, non-primary caregiver leave will be raised from six weeks to ten weeks. The policy update covers countries such as Australia, Japan, Greater China, Singapore, and India.

According to Barclays, these changes aim to provide new parents with more time at home and help staff balance work and personal responsibilities. The bank also hopes that the move will contribute to a more inclusive workplace culture.

Tristram Roberts, Group HR Director at Barclays, stated: “This is a major investment in our people and demonstrates Barclays’ commitment to attracting and retaining the best talent, while continuing to build an inclusive environment. Ultimately, it’s about supporting families.”

The revised paternity policy applies not only to fathers but also includes child adopters; spouses or partners of birth parents or adopters (including same-sex partners); and intended parents through surrogacy arrangements.

These enhancements are part of Barclays’ broader benefits package for employees. More details about the company’s employee benefits can be found on its official site: https://search.jobs.barclays/benefits
