All individuals applying for nonimmigrant visas are now required to attend an in-person interview with a consular officer, regardless of their age. This change affects applicants under 14 and over 79, who were previously exempt from the interview requirement.
There are exceptions to this rule for certain diplomatic and official visa categories. Additionally, renewals of B1/B2 visas may still be eligible for a waiver if the previous visa expired within the last 12 months, was issued for full validity, and the applicant was at least 18 years old when it was granted.
Further details about these changes can be found on the U.S. Department of State's website at https://travel.state.gov.
