U.S. Ambassador Michel Issa formally presented his credentials to President Joseph Aoun on November 17, 2025. This step marks the official start of Issa’s tenure as the United States’ representative in Lebanon.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Issa expressed his commitment to strengthening ties between the two countries. "I was honored to present my credentials today to President Joseph Aoun, and to reaffirm our support for a sovereign, peaceful, prosperous Lebanon," he said.

The presentation of credentials is a diplomatic tradition that signifies an ambassador's official recognition by the host country's head of state. With this formal process completed, Ambassador Issa will now carry out his duties representing U.S. interests in Lebanon.
