Siemens has acquired technology assets from Setmetrics, an Australian software-as-a-service provider. The acquisition aims to enhance the energy modeling capabilities of Siemens’ Brightly Software portfolio. Setmetrics has been active in Australia and North America, providing solutions that allow customers in commercial real estate, education, and healthcare sectors to create digital Energy Twins for buildings, perform scenario analysis, and track outcomes.

Brightly Software integrates operational, financial, and sustainability data into asset investment planning throughout the lifecycle of assets. With the new technology from Setmetrics, Brightly Software will expand its ability to analyze energy impacts within a broader framework for asset investment planning. This integrated approach is intended to help organizations embed energy efficiency into their planning processes and achieve long-term results.

Don Kurelich, CEO at Brightly Software, said: “This technology significantly elevates our digital twin capabilities, enabling us to model the impact of investments not just on facility condition, but also on critical energy performance. This integrated foresight is paramount for our clients, empowering them to achieve ambitious sustainability goals and drive unparalleled operational efficiency.”

The new scenario modeling feature allows Brightly Software to quickly generate energy efficiency models for various types of buildings. It also enables the offering of a Facility Health Energy Index through Asset Investment Planning within its Lifecycle Management Platform. According to Siemens, Setmetrics' solution simplifies model development and can reduce design effort by up to 80 percent.

Previously, asset owners often faced complex and costly processes when trying to identify opportunities for improving energy efficiency or understanding the sustainability impact of their investments. The integration of Setmetrics' technology is expected to streamline these processes.

The acquisition transaction has been completed; however, both parties have agreed not to disclose financial details.
