The U.S. Embassy in Manila has announced the suspension of public services on November 18, 2025, due to an ongoing rally by the religious group Iglesia ni Cristo at Rizal Park. The rally, which began on November 16 and is scheduled to end on November 18, is expected to cause significant traffic congestion and road closures around Rizal Park and the nearby areas, including the embassy’s immediate vicinity.

In a statement, the embassy said: “Due to the embassy’s close proximity to the rally site and the expectation of heavy traffic congestion and security in the immediate vicinity of the embassy, we are suspending public services on Tuesday, November 18th.”

U.S. citizens who require emergency assistance can contact +(63) (2) 5301-2000. All routine American Citizens Services appointments will be rescheduled, and consular customers are advised to check their email for updates.

The embassy advised U.S. citizens to avoid the rally area. It also reminded foreign nationals that participation in protests or mass demonstrations could violate their immigration status according to Operation Order SMB-2015-025.

People are encouraged to monitor local media and government sources for information about possible disruptions or changes in traffic patterns during the event. The embassy further recommended exercising caution near large gatherings since peaceful rallies can become violent unexpectedly.
